Core Values

There is a need in the milieu of Christian ministries that exist in 21st century America for distinctions that clearly delineate similarities and differences. The central distinctive and unifying truth for First Baptist Church is the Gospel of Jesus Christ as delineated here. The Gospel is the message of reconciliation which this congregation not only embraces personally but carries with urgency to a world at enmity with God. Once the Gospel is embraced, the parameters of fellowship are formed. Within those parameters our church has identified four core values which define our ministry and form the funnel through which all of our ministry flows. They are:

  • Love for God and His Word - Mark 12:28-30; Deuteronomy 6:1-16

  • Love for others - Mark 12:31-34; 1 John 3:11-24

  • Faithfulness in Christian ministry - Matthew 24:45-47; Matthew 25:14-23

  • Spiritual growth - Ephesians 4:12-5:2

On a practical level, we as a congregation understand that there are many good activities with which we could busy ourselves, but we are interested in focusing our time, talents, and treasure upon the furtherance of the Gospel through the lens of these Core Values.
